ROSS EDGELEY ENDURANCE SWIMMER
The Brief
The objective was to deliver a raw, high-impact portrait campaign featuring world-record endurance athlete Ross Edgley. The brief required producing a premium collection of imagery that captured his formidable physical presence, extreme mental resilience, and quiet composure. The visual tone needed to reflect his legendary endurance feats—such as his historic 1,57-day swim around Great Britain and near-Arctic expeditions—by embracing a darker, stripped-back portrayal of an elite athlete who thrives where sport meets survival.
The Execution
The campaign was shot entirely on location under punishing real-world conditions, embracing ambient wind, rain, and cold to mirror the athlete's natural environment. Rather than forcing compromises, the setup leaned directly into the harsh elements. The lighting arrangement was kept deliberate and highly manageable for the climate, utilizing two gridded beauty dishes on Profoto heads. This setup delivered a hard, directional light with tight control on spill, completely eliminating soft light in favor of deep structure, contrast, and edge. Every source was precisely positioned to sculpt rather than flatten, bringing out raw physical textures, hard definitions, and the movement of water on skin.

JACK LAUGHER SPING BOARD DIVING CHAMPION
The Brief
The objective was to deliver a high-impact portrait campaign featuring Olympic champion springboard diver Jack Laugher. The images needed to match his world-class standard, capturing his physical presence and focus through an elevated commercial look that highlighted his athletic discipline.
The Execution
The campaign was shot on location directly on the diving board, navigating restricted space, slippery surfaces, and high pool humidity. To prevent light scattering across the facility, the setup used two 6x1 strip boxes on either side to sculpt the body’s lines, paired with a gridded silver beauty dish as the key light for a harder, punchier quality. This precise, contained arrangement required a fast workflow to secure clean frames with strong structure and controlled highlights.

JO DENNISON SURF CHAMPION
The Brief
The objective was to deliver a clean, high-impact action and apparel campaign featuring champion surfer Jo Dennison. As a specialist sports and commercial photographer in the Northwest, the brief required producing a premium collection of imagery that showcased high-performance watersports apparel, captured elite athletic power, and aligned with a sleek, professional aesthetic for major UK outdoor brands.
The Execution
The campaign featured two distinct setups split between high-action water tracking and a raw on-location portrait at the Snowdonia Surf Centre. The action portion utilised specialised high-speed flash photography to completely freeze the explosive movement of the waves and the precise mechanics of the watersports gear in motion, shot from a. hetty as she surfed past.. In contrast, the on-location portrait setup leveraged the ambient environment to showcase the apparel details, creating a sculpted, authentic look that captured her focus away from the board while maintaining a clean, premium aesthetic.

FREYA ANDERSON SWIM CHAMPION
The Brief

The Execution
The campaign was shot on location inside an aquatics facility, using the pool environment as a dramatic backdrop. To create a high-end fashion editorial feel, the setup used precisely controlled, directional lighting instead of standard sports lighting. This approach saturated the bold, vibrant colours of the apparel and carved out a strong, sculpted look that highlighted her athletic presence.
